Dr. Mat Park is the Director of Consulting at Park Counseling & Consulting, LLC and creator of the Mental Performance Program. He is a high performance coach and a mental skills trainer for teams and organizations, including Duke University Men's Golf Team, Web.com PGA Tour professionals, LPGA Tour professionals and highly ranked junior golfers. In addition to his consulting practice, Dr. Park works at NASA as an Organizational Development Specialist under the AETOS contract assisting teams, executives, and leaders in achieving optimal performance through leadership and organizational development. As a former Assistant Professor at John F. Kennedy University in the Sport Psychology Department, Dr. Park integrates research and practical tools to help generate change and performance effectiveness.

Dr. Park's wife, Julia, runs her own psychotherapy practice. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in California and Alabama and is currently a managing partner at Huntsville Psychotherapy and Counseling Services. Julia specializes in couple's counseling using the Gottman Method. As a Gottman specialist and workshop leader, Julia facilitates Gottman workshops throughout the Tennessee Valley.

Both Mat and Julia found that having a niche is extremely important in being able to successfully market yourself. Creativity, power of association, specialization, as well as lessons learned of starting their own private practice is what Mat will be sharing with us today.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • How to focus on a speciality or niche to grow your psychotherapy practice business
  • How to get over the fear of marketing yourself and your psychotherapy business
  • Ways to use connection and listening skills to gain more business
  • How to ask for referrals from your network
  • How narrowing down and focusing to a particular niche will open up new opportunities rather than hinder you from seeing people outside of your speciality
